Welcome to A Modern Girl Recommends and for today I will be kicking things off with a DIY that’s not only quick to make, but smells incredible and is right up a chocolate lover’s alley and what might it be? It’s my Peppermint Hibiscus Chocolate Sugar Lip Scrub that has been helping to keep my lips smooth, soft and lipstick ready and if you do decide to give this DIY a try you’re going to want to make an extra batch, because this scrub doubles as a body scrub as well so stay tuned and let’s get things started.
What You’ll Need
Cocoa Powder
Dark Chocolate
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Organic Peppermint Essential Oil
Cane Sugar
Dried Hibiscus Flower
Jar
Mixing Bowl
Mortar
Spoon
Step 1
Add 1/2 of a cup of cane sugar, 4 tablespoons or one packet of cocoa powder, a quarter size of dark chocolate that has been ground with mortar and one hibiscus flower that has also been grounded with a mortar into your bowl.
Step 2
Mix all of your dry ingredients evenly together and then you can move onto step 3.
Step 3
Add one tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to the mixture at a time until the scrub takes on a consistency that’s similar to sand and then continue to add olive oil until the scrub reaches a desired consistency once it does add four to five drops of peppermint essential oil and mix in and your lip scrub is ready for use just transfer into a jar for storage. To use, simply apply your scrub onto your lips in a circular motion and remove with warm water and then follow-up with your go to lip balm.
Tips & Tricks
- You can swap out the Extra Virgin Olive Oil for any other oil that you may like and you can even combine oils create a special blend.
- This scrub works great on the lips, but it can also be used as a body scrub.
- The Hibiscus Flower is optional.
